Councilmember Raj Salwan grew up in Fremont. He is a product of Fremont public schools having gone to elementary, junior high, and high school in Fremont, CA. Councilmember Salwan attended the University of California of Irvine for study in Biological Sciences, and earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (Summa Cum Laude) from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine. He is a small business owner who lives and works in Fremont.
Councilmember Salwan is an active participant in the community and is involved in many local and social concerns. He has a long track record of community service and dedication. Councilmember Salwan believes in giving back to the community that has given him so much. He has served as Chairperson of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, Fremont Planning Commissioner, Chairperson of the Fremont Human Relations Commission, Board of Director for Kidango and Abode Services, associate member of the Fremont Education Foundation, and Citizen Watchdog Committee member at Alameda County Transportation Commission.
Councilmember Salwan is a family man and the proud father of three wonderful children who attend Fremont public schools. He is an avid reader and undergoes constant self improvement.
