City Hosts Retail Development Presentation
"Celebrating 50 Years of Retail in Fremont" will be the theme of the
Office of Economic Development's fourth annual Retail Development
Presentation on Thursday, January 19 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Brokers
and developers will learn about the City's key retail opportunities
and upcoming retail projects as we celebrate Fremont's 50 years as a

Retail Recruitment Efforts Net Results
2005 was a banner year in Fremont with nearly 50 new retailers and
restaurants opening at Pacific Commons, The Hub, the Benton, and
Washington West, as well as the historic districts of Mission San
Jose, Niles, Centerville and Irvington.
The City of Fremont's ongoing retail recruitment efforts will
focus on attracting new restaurants and retail to Fremont with a
concentration on upscale, fine dining and specialty quick casual.

Genitope Corporation Relocates to Fremont
Genitope Corporation, a biotechnology company that develops
immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer, is moving its
headquarters and manufacturing facility to Ardenwood Technology Park
in Fremont. Genitope's move from Redwood City to Fremont brings with
it 600 jobs along with the presence of a leading national biotech
company.

Kudos to ASI Corporation
Kudos to Fremont's ASI Corporation, the largest women-owned business
in Silicon Valley, as reported by the San Jose/Silicon Valley
Business Journal.
Kudos to NUMMI
Kudos to New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI) for reaching
another milestone in its vehicle production. Last year 417,505 shiny
vehicles rolled off their Fremont production line. That's 36,951 more
than in 2004!
Kudos to Lam Research
Kudos to Lam Research for recently being named one of the "Best
Managed Companies" by Forbes. The list is a subsection of Forbes'
annual "Platinum 400: Best Big Companies in America" list. Lam was
chosen from among 10 Platinum 400 companies in the semiconductor
category.
