Fremont Makes Top 10 "Brainiest" City List
Fremont was recently named among the top 10 brainiest medium-sized cities according to a study by Bizjournals.com. Data compiled from the 2000 U.S. Census of medium-sized communities (defined as 100,000 to 200,000 residents who were 25 or older at the time) showed that 43.2% of Fremont residents received a Bachelor's degree or further college education. Way to make the grade Fremont!

Festival of the Arts
Come out and celebrate the annual Fremont Festival of the Arts
sponsored by the Fremont Chamber of Commerce on Saturday, August 5 and Sunday, August 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Downtown Fremont.

Throughout the year, each of Fremont's seven business groups meets to coordinate marketing efforts, plan events and promote their district and Fremont in general. RETAIL AND RESTAURANTS
Fremont's Retail Sizzles
New stores and restaurants are opening in Fremont and a new wave of retail is on its way.

Fremont's largest retail center, Pacific Commons, located at the corner of Interstate 880 and Auto Mall Parkway, will add new restaurants to their mix. Claim Jumpers is scheduled to open in late summer, followed by PF Chang's China Bistro in early fall. Stay tuned for announcements of additional restaurants opening here. more...

City's Biotech Efforts Recognized, Continue to Grow
The City is aggressively working with life science (biotech) firms to either locate in Fremont or expand their current operation here. Fremont is home to more than 40 such firms, primarily in the Ardenwood and Warm Springs business districts.

Fremont's efforts have been guided by a focused recruitment and retention strategy titled "A Perfectly Cultured Environment to Grow Your Biotech Company." We are pleased to announce our biotech efforts recently received an Award of Merit from the California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED).

  • Congratulations to Fremont-based Lam Research, a manufacturer of semi-conductor equipment, who was recently named by Business 2.0 magazine to its list of the "100 Fastest-Growing Technology Companies."


  • The City is pleased to announce that Logitech, a Fremont-based provider of personal peripherals for computers, has been awarded $1.2 million in funding from the California Employment Training Panel (ETP) to train employees in computer and business skills, management skills, and advanced product engineering life cycle management skills. more...
