Magnussen Lexus of Fremont has moved to a larger location within the
Fremont Auto Mall. They now occupy 7+ acres at the corner of Cushing
Parkway and Bunche Drive, just down the street from their former
dealership.
In addition to a larger service facility, the dealership offers
their customers a variety of new ways to relax while they wait:
customer lounges with flat screen televisions, wireless internet,
massage chairs, manicures, pedicures, wireless headphones, and a
coffee bar.

Fire Prevention Week Approaches
Fire Prevention Week, occurring October 8 to 14, is right around the
corner! The Fremont Fire Department is joining forces with local
businesses, community groups, and the National Fire Protection
Association to remind people to "Prevent Cooking Fires: Watch What
You Heat." During this year's fire safety campaign, firefighters and
safety advocates will be spreading the word about the dangers of
cooking fires-most of which result from unattended cooking-and
teaching people how to prevent cooking fires from starting in the
first place.

Looking for a new way to promote your business this fall? Why not
sponsor a "Halloween House" at the upcoming Trick or Treat on Safety
Street event on Friday, October 27. This City sponsored event will
transform the Centerville Community Center's gym into a safe
neighborhood trick or treat wonderland for 1 to 10 year olds.
As children go door-to-door, each trick or treat stop will

Retail and Restaurant Bites
Fremont continues to attract and open new retail businesses and
restaurants. The restaurant line-up is growing at Pacific Commons
(corner of I-880 and Auto Mall Parkway). The newest restaurant to
open is Claim Jumper, well known for their large
portions and mouth watering desserts.
PF Chang's China Bistro is scheduled to open in
October and will offer Asian fusion cuisine in a contemporary bistro
setting.

REDEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
City Receives Grant for Irvington Improvements
The
Metropolitan Transportation Commission
(MTC) recently awarded a $1.57 million grant to the City of Fremont
to support pedestrian-friendly, transit-oriented improvements on Bay
Street, Trimboli Way, and Papazian Way in the Irvington District. The
City's proposal was one of only 11 projects in the Bay Area (out of
60 applications) to receive funding through MTC's Transportation for
Livable Communities program.

City's Biotech Efforts Continue to Shine
For a second time, our life sciences recruitment and retention
strategy, "A Perfectly Cultured Environment to Grow Your Biotech
Company," has been recognized. Four months ago, we received an Award
of Merit from the California Association for Local Economic
Development and just recently has been named as a finalist for the
National League of Cities Awards for Municipal Excellence for this
strategy!
Kudos to Zensys
Kudos to Fremont-based Zensys, creator of the Z-Wave technology,
which brings wireless control to home appliances, lighting,
entertainment systems, and security systems. The company was recently
named by the Wall Street Journal as the winner in the wireless
category of its 2006 Technology Innovation Awards.
