Free Business Workshop Series Continues The City of Fremont is holding free monthly business workshops throughout the year that support small business growth and sustainable economic development in Fremont.

Upcoming workshops will cover:

  • Retailing 101
  • Getting Certified
  • Legal and Business Issues

    All workshops are in partnership with the Fremont Chamber of Commerce and through the Cal State East Bay Small Business Development Center, and will be held at Fremont City Hall, 3300 Capitol Ave., Building A, from 9 am to noon. more...
  • Promotional Coupon Program to Return
    Promotional Coupon Program to Return The City's Holiday Shop Fremont Coupon Program was a success thanks to the nearly 50 Fremont businesses that provided coupons for the ShopFremont.biz website. This free advertising program is just one way the City promotes local businesses. If you are a Fremont business owner and would like to participate in our upcoming free coupon promotion, contact the Office of Economic Development via e-mail or at 510-284-4020 for more information.
    Local Business Preference Increases for City Purchases
    The City Council recently approved a change to the Fremont Municipal Code to increase the local business preference for vendors located in Fremont from 1 percent to 2.5 percent on City purchases. The local preference is for purchases of personal property over $25,000, with a maximum local preference amount of $5,000.

    How does it work? The local business preference applies only to personal property, which covers just about everything the City purchases except real property and services. more...

    Retail and Restaurants Interest by retailers and restaurants remains strong in Fremont and 2008 promises to add new shopping and dining opportunities.

    A number of new restaurants have recently opened in Fremont:
  • Santa Fe Mexican Restaurant in the Northport Center.
  • Federico's at the Fremont Plaza.
  • Carino's Italian Grill at Pacific Commons.

    Watch for more restaurants coming soon to Pacific Commons, which will include Asian Pearl, a second location for Applebee's Neighborhood Grill, Prolific Oven, and Dickey's Barbeque. more...
