Food Scrap Recycling for Restaurants Calling all restaurant owners. Participate in the City's Composting for Business program, and potentially save money on your garbage bill, as well as do something good for the environment.
Restaurants can easily separate food scraps and food-soiled paper such as paper towels, napkins, and paper cups from the rest of the garbage. For about half as much as regular garbage service, you can get the same size dumpster (selected sizes only) to compost these items. more...

Mission/Warren/I-880 Freeway Interchange Project Construction of the Mission Boulevard/Warren Avenue/Interstate 880 Interchange is coming to a close. New ramp connections between southbound and northbound I-880 and Mission Boulevard were opened in early July. The old horse shoe ramp connection, between I-880 and West Warren Avenue and Mission Boulevard, was closed and removed in July so work on completing the carpool lane through the interchange could be accelerated. more...
Mandatory Recycling of Construction, Demolition Debris Beginning Jan. 1, 2009, the City will require that construction and demolition debris be recycled on all residential and commercial demolition projects as well as for new or remodeled construction projects costing over $300,000. On average, over 84% of the materials in a new single-family home can easily be recycled. Wood, metal, drywall, cardboard, film plastic, and yard trimmings are just some of the materials that are easily recycled in such projects. more...
