Boards & Commissions
Advisory bodies advise the City Council and identify issues before the Council makes final decisions. Advisory body members are appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of a majority of the Council and most serve four year terms of office. Minimum meeting attendance requirements vary according to the frequency with which the body meets. Advisory body members serve without pay with the exception of Planning Commissioners.

Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) Role

Advises City staff on the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, including capital and housing public service funds. Responsible for recommending approximately $2.4 million in CDBG funds through a Request for Proposal (RFP) process.  CAC members are appointed by the City Manager.

The primary purpose of the CDBG program is to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low and moderate-income persons.

The CAC meets from November-April for the CDBG funding process and on an ad hoc basis when matters arise.
