Responsibilities
The Office of Economic Development is dedicated to providing the community with a strong, diverse, and adaptable economy where businesses can be successful in the global work environment, and where residents and visitors can enjoy high quality retail amenities. In partnership with many internal and external stakeholders, this department:
- Creates and implements an overall marketing strategy for the City as a quality place in which to live and do business.
- Proactively communicates with quality dining and retail establishments to promote Fremont as their location of choice.
- Facilitates the revitalization of Fremont's historic neighborhoods.
- Works collaboratively with state and regional organizations along with existing Fremont firms with international ties to strengthen Fremont's position in the global economy with a focus on technology.
- Supports Council's leadership position in regional economic development efforts and global outreach.
- Hosts and sponsors a variety of economic development workshops and seminars to help Fremont businesses grow.
- Produces award-winning marketing and communications materials to promote Fremont as being a great place to live, work, and play.
Mission Statement
The Office of Economic Development's mission is to improve the community's economic base and quality of life for businesses and residents by working collaboratively with community members and other City staff to attract and retain businesses, promote a diversity of new job opportunities, and strengthen tax revenues.
