Civil/Construction Engineering

One of the major functions of Engineering is the design of public infrastructure.  Public infrastructure includes streets, bridges, parks, and public buildings.  Most of the projects are designed by City staff with a few projects being designed by consultants managed by City staff.  Most design projects include a community engagement component where the projects are designed with public participation.

After the projects are designed, they are constructed by private contractors.  Engineering is responsible for inspecting the projects to assure the quality of the work.  Engineering staff also inspect the roads and grading for new subdivisions.
