Councilmember Cho moved to the Bay Area in 1973 and worked as a Systems Analyst for Pacific Telephone in San Francisco. In 1974, he and his wife, Amy, were married and moved to Fremont to be equidistant to San Francisco and to San Jose where Amy worked. Councilmember Cho and Amy have one child, Beverly, who graduated from UC Berkeley with a BS in Chemistry. Today Councilmember Cho is self-employed and operates a software consulting business in Fremont specializing in software for the manufacturing industry.

Ever since moving to Fremont in 1974, Councilmember Cho has been active in many community and professional organizations. His most current community involvement included being President of Citizens for Better Community (1999), being appointed to the Fremont City Charter Committee (1997) and being appointed to the Fremont Planning Commission (1998). It is this community involvement that has propelled Councilmember Cho into becoming a councilmember. His goal is to make the great City of Fremont an even greater city. Lobbying the state for a more equitable share of property taxes, providing more variety of shopping and dining, and redevelopment of downtown are some of Councilmember Cho's major priorities.
