Creek Cleanups

Creek cleanup events remove trash and debris from local creeks using either City staff, volunteers, or contracted services such as the East Bay Conservation Corps.  This helps not only the wildlife and their habitat, but also the quality of water in local creeks and the San Francisco Bay.

The creek cleanup events are a great way for students to earn community service hours or for scouts to earn a badge.  One major event that occurs every year is Coastal Cleanup Day held on the third Saturday in September.  Participants involved in the cleanup events can also get involved in volunteering to paint storm drain inlets with the message "No Dumping Flows to Bay."
