City/FUSD Report: Development and Schools

October 2, 2007

The City Council and Fremont Unified School District Board have received a large number of comments and questions from the public over the last several months concerning the relationship between the City of Fremont and the Fremont Unified School District in terms of approving new residential development and its impact on schools.

At the October 1, 2007 Joint City Council and Fremont Unified School District Board meeting, a "white" paper titled "Joint Report Regarding the Relationship of Development and Schools" was distributed. This report provides answers to such questions and summarizes the history and background conditions, as well as provides some solutions to alleviate concerns created by residential growth and its impact on school capacity.
