Art Instructor

Art Instructor (ASIII) - $10.68 - $15.02 per hour.

Job Description

We have a variety of subject areas for a variety of ages.  We are expanding our already successful art, cooking, theatre and music programs resulting in employment opportunities for instructors in the following areas: Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Crafts, Sculpture, Acrylic, Watercolor, Pastels, Photography, Weaving, Printing, Calligraphy, Quilting, Kids Carpentry, Kids Cooking, Anime/Manga, Cartooning, Clowning, Theatre, etc. 

Classes are designed for groups of 10 - 16 students and usually meet once a week for 5 weeks.  Age groups may be adults, youth or toddlers.

Examples of Duties:

  • Plans art class content and prepares materials.
  • Orders supplies as needed.
  • Competes assignments on time and within budgetary restrictions.
  • Conducts creative and safe classes.
  • Communicates with supervisor regarding classroom needs.
  • Attends periodic staff meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • AA degree in Art or one year teaching experience.
  • Available to participate in some special events on weekends, evening or holidays.
  • Must have good communication skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a creative and safe classroom environment.
  • Knowledge and skills in specialized subject areas.
  • Can be relied upon to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
