Children's Drama Instructor

Salary from $10.68 to $15.02 per hour (AS III) - Job Description:

Entry level part time teaching position in the Arts Division.  Under general supervision, the instructor plans, prepares and teaches children's drama classes during the summer or after school.

Examples of Duties:

  • Plan drama class contents and prepare performances.
  • Order supplies as needed.
  • Interact with participants, encouraging self-esteem and personal growth through dramatic arts.
  • Communicate with supervisor on classroom needs.
  • Attend periodic staff meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One school year teaching or volunteering in recreation programs.
  • Must have dependable transportation.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Associate of Arts degree in Drama or other related field.
  • Possession of effective communication techniques.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive relations with and positive attitudes towards others.
  • Can be relied upon to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a creative classroom environment.
  • Knowledge and skills in specialized subject areas.
  • Specialized theatrical skills such as improv.
  • Combination of prior teaching experience (paid or volunteer) and education in Arts, Crafts or allied fields.
