Curbside Oil Recycling

Curbside Service with Allied Waste

Fremont residents who have curbside  recycling service with Allied Waste can recycle their used motor oil and oil filters at the curb on their scheduled collection day.

To begin your oil pick-up service, you may obtain free, City-issued oil and filter bag containers (maximum 2 per household) at any of Fremont's distribution centers.

Container Set-Out Guidelines

On your scheduled pick-up day, place your sealed oil jugs and filter bags next to the other recycling containers at the curb (gray recycling cart and green organics cart); see picture below for typical set-out.

Container Replacement

During curbside service, the oil jugs will be drained by the collection truck driver, and emptied jugs will be returned, along with new filter bags. If this does not occur, please call Allied Waste at 510-657-3500 or visit their website to request more containers.

Contaminated Oil

Do not mix the following items with the oil:

  • Antifreeze
  • Transmission fluid
  • Water
  • Any other products

This contaminates the oil and it cannot be recycled. If you have contaminated oil, please call the Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste drop-off facility at 800-606-6606 or visit their website for directions, facility locations, and hours.
