Stormwater Program

The main source of water pollution in the San Francisco Bay today is storm water runoff, also known as urban runoff.

The City of Fremont Environmental Services Division implements the City's storm water program.  The following links are some Stormwater Program components and information on how to prevent stormwater pollution:

             Fremont Creek

The program was established in 1991 as a requirement of the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit to minimize stormwater pollution and improve water quality of our local water ways.

The Cities Stormwater Program consists of several components including public education and outreach, maintenance activities, facility inspections and illegal dumping enforcement.

Examples of current efforts include:

          Kids Stenciling           Watershed education
