1. How can I apply for a position?

There are several ways to apply for a position. The easiest and fastest way to apply is online through the online application system.

Once you have created a profile, you can apply for a position that is currently open or submit an interest card for one that is not currently open but that you are interested in.

The other way to apply for a position is to submit a hard copy application to the Human Resources Department. Employment applications can be obtained by calling Human Resources at (510) 494-4660.

2. What application materials do I need to submit?

Each position may require different application materials to be submitted. At the very least, every position requires a complete City application. In addition, some positions may require a resume, copies of specialized licenses or certificates, etc.

Carefully read the job announcement section "Application Instructions" for information on what application materials are required.

Only complete applications will be accepted.

3. How often are positions posted at the City of Fremont?

New job postings are posted as positions become available.

4. I do not have a computer at home. How can I apply for City of Fremont jobs?

You can access our online application anywhere you have access to the Internet. This includes public libraries, community colleges, etc.

5. Am I able to drop off my application after your offices are closed?

Yes. We have an employment application drop-box located in front of the entrance of the City Hall offices.

6. Do you accept interest cards for positions not currently open?

Yes, however, we only accept interest cards through our online application system.

7. Do you accept faxed or e-mailed applications?

It is our policy to only accept application materials that are submitted through our Online Application System, by mail, in person, or placed in the application drop box. We are unable to accept faxed or e-mailed applications.

8. How can I find out the status of my application?

Applicants receive a confirmation letter once they submit a complete application. The letter states that HR will further contact only those that best meet the qualifications for that position. Beyond the confirmation letter, HR only notifies candidates moving forward in the selection process.

9. Can I apply for a position that is not open?

No. HR is able to accept only applications for positions that are open recruitment.

10. The position I am interested in is not currently open. Can you notify me when it becomes available?

Yes. Applicants can submit electronic interest cards through our online application system. Once you have created a profile, you can submit an interest card for any position that is not currently open. HR will notify you when the position becomes available, and then you may submit an application at that time.

11. When is the last day to submit an application?

Most recruitments have an application deadline date that is listed on the job announcement. Application materials must be received by HR no later than 5:00 p.m. on the deadline date.

Some recruitments are open until filled an do not have an absolute deadline to submit application materials. In most cases, these open until filled positions have a first review date. Application materials received by that date will receive consideration. The recruitment may close without further notice after the first review date.

12. How can I confirm that you received my application?

Upon receipt of application materials, HR will send a confirmation letter.
