Q. Where do I call when there is a non-functioning traffic signal?
A. Contact Street Light Repair at 1-800-544-4876.
The City will perform permanent repairs to the sidewalk only if the damage is caused by a street tree that is maintained by the City. Permanent repairs to the sidewalk are performed on a region by region basis, where neighborhoods that have the highest concentration of damaged sidewalks are given priority. The timing of any repair project will depend on the existing condition of the neighborhood, whether the damage qualifies for a repair under the concrete repair policy, and the availability of funding. The primary goal of any permanent repairs performed by the City is to remove trip hazards from the sidewalk. Refer to Concrete Repair Program for more details.
Property owners wishing to take the initiative and perform permanent repairs on their own at their cost have the option of doing so by applying for an encroachment permit. The fees of the permit will be waived for concrete repairs. Refer to Encroachment Permits for more details.
A. Contact the Engineering Division at 510-494-4700. The City has considered a number of street intersections that would receive priority status for curb ramp installation based on its proximity to public and other essential facilities. The program installs curb ramps only in public streets. The timing of any curb ramp installation will depend on the location of the proposed intersection and availability of funding. The ultimate goal of the intersection ramp program is to install ADA compliant curb ramps at all street intersections in the City.
A. The Capital Improvement Program (or CIP) is a plan that is developed and updated periodically by the City to appropriate funds for building and maintaining the City's streets, sidewalks, parks, buildings, and other infrastructure.
