It is our goal to continue to provide the highest quality of care to the public.
The Fremont Fire Department is a leader in Alameda County and Northern California in providing paramedic-level emergency medical services from fire engines. All firefighters are certified as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), and 70 firefighters are certified as Paramedics (EMT-P). This allows the department to offer Advanced and Basic Life Support as first responses off both engines and trucks. A study conducted by a Fremont Fire Department Paramedic and published in the May 1996 issue of the Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS) concluded Fremont has the highest survival rate of heart attacks of any city in the nation. Fremont Fire has a unique ability to deliver emergency medical services in an average of 5 minutes or less. The following statistics are from 2001:

Although, this team of bike medics can be put into operation in the event of a major disaster, they primarily operate during the summer for special events such as 4th of July, the Police and Fire Games and Festival of the Arts. |
