Membership Status

Membership status is broken into two criteria: active and inactive.

The requirement for active status is a two-year commitment of attending one (1) CERT-wide and one (1) district drill annually.   Additionally, active members may be asked to teach fellow neighbors with basic home safety skills at a Neighborhood Crime Watch Meeting.

Inactive status requires maintaining correct contact information, and responding to large scale events.

Communication Plan

CERT members are expected to mitigate problems at home before offering assistance to anyone else.  CERT members are not expected to physically report to the Primary Staging area in order to report a hazard.  If someone needs your help, go to work.  All CERT members are to turn on their family radio service (FRS) radio to their pre-assigned channel.  Monitor all traffic.  Relay reports to the Staging Area if needed.  FRS radios have about a two-mile range.

         NEW INFORMATION!

The radio channels are selected by the closest primary staging - fire station.
