The City of Fremont accepts and issues permits for minor work via the FAX machine, with payment by MasterCard or Visa credit card. Work for which FAX permits will be processed are limited to the following:
Building
- Re-roofing (when additional weight is found to be acceptable).
- Payment of reinspection fee or overtime inspection fee.
Plumbing
- Replacement of water heaters.
- Installation of lawn sprinklers.
- Repair of gas, water, or drainage lines.
Electrical
- Service Upgrades < 200 amps.
- Small electrical such as one circuit.
Mechanical
- Replacement of heaters or furnaces with equal or less BTU rating.
To use this service for building permits, your company will need to register with the City. Once the registration process has been completed, you may start processing all permits for the above work via FAX. As with all permits, your contractors license and Workers' Compensation information must be current and on file with the City. In order to process a FAX permit, you will need to follow these instructions:
- Complete a FAX permit application (see below) and a permit worksheet. All sections and declarations must be completed and signed. (Incomplete applications will not be processed.)
- Forward both the application and the worksheet to the City via FAX at 510-494-4467. Upon completion of processing, credit card authorization and permit issuance, City staff will FAX the issued permit back to you.
- When you receive the issued permit, fill out an inspection record card and attach a copy of the permit to it. Inspection Record Cards can be picked up at the Development Services Center or mailed to you. Please request the Faxed Inspection Record Card.
Both the Inspection Record Card and a copy of the issued permits shall be maintained on the jobsite until after the final inspection. Failure to do so may result in the assessment of penalties and additional fees. |
