Public Input Invited for Fremont’s Family Resource Center

December 28, 2005

The Family Resource Center (FRC) invites Tri-City residents to attend a Public Community Forum to give input on the FRC's Five-Year Strategic Plan on Tuesday, January 10th.  Attend either session from 3:00–5:00pm or 6:00-8:00pm.

The FRC is a collaborative of over 20 state, county, city and non-profit agencies serving Tri-City residents and families with integrated services located under one roof.  Current services include:  adult and youth employment, landlord/tenant assistance, housing discrimination assistance, childcare info and referral, domestic violence prevention, family violence law, parent education, counseling, public health, mental health, immigration services, cash aide/food stamps/MediCal, financial education classes, and tax preparation services for low-income families.

To date, the FRC's Strategic Planning Process has involved a series of structured meetings with participation from many groups - representatives from each FRC member agency, clients, and Cabrillo neighborhood community members.  The first meeting defined the FRC's vision and the barriers to achieving the vision.  Next the Planning Group interviewed 37 key stakeholders from government, health, education, community and faith-based organizations, as well as funders, to learn of their expectations and priorities.

On January 10th, the FRC will share with the public a draft of the Strategic Directions that have come from the Strategic Planning Process, and requests your input to help define and prioritize their action plan.   As a Tri-City resident, what services and programs would you like to see at the FRC?

The Public Community Forum will be held at the FRC in the Pacific Room, Suite H800, located at 39155 Liberty Street.  The 3:00-5:00pm session will offer Spanish translation, and the 6:00-8:00pm session will offer both Spanish and sign language translation.  Refreshments will be served at both sessions.   RSVPs are recommended but not required.

For more information or to RSVP, please contact the FRC Administrator, Judy Schwartz, at 510-574-2274 or jschwartz@ci.fremont.ca.us.
