Fremont City Manager Fred Diaz announced the appointment of Melissa Stevenson Dile as a new Deputy City Manager for the City of Fremont. Dile is currently the Assistant to the City Manager for the City of Morgan Hill, California. She replaces Assistant City Manager Lynn Macy, who retired in December, 2005 after five years of service to the City of Fremont and 30 years in public service. Dile will begin work on June 26, 2006.
Ms. Dile was chosen after an extensive executive search process. She has worked with the City of Morgan Hill since 1991 in a variety of capacities including Acting Human Resources Director, as well as overseeing the City's information technology services. Additionally, Ms. Dile was chosen to participate in the Management Talent Exchange Program sponsored by the Santa Clara County and San Mateo County City Managers' associations and worked with the Santa Clara Valley Water District on performance management, legislative initiatives and communications for that agency.
She holds a Masters in Public Administration from San Jose State University, and a Bachelors Degree in History and Government from Mills College.
City Manager Diaz said, "Melissa brings a strong background in public service to the Fremont City Manager's Office. She has a deep understanding, and appreciation, of the value of customer service both to the community and within our organization, and will be an exceptionally valuable addition to the Fremont staff."
Ms. Dile will be a member of the City's Executive Team and will oversee the Human Resources, Information Systems and City Clerk departments.
When asked about her appointment, Dile said, "The City of Fremont has an outstanding reputation as an innovative and highly professional organization, and I am honored to join the management team."
Ms. Dile is married with one child.
