Animal Nuisances

The City of Fremont Animal Services Division (510-790-6640) provides assistance and advice on resolving many animal nuisance problems, including:

Barking Dogs

If you are experiencing a nuisance caused by a barking dog, notify the dog owner of the nuisance in person, by telephone, or by letter. Be as specific as possible about the dates and times of the problem.

At your request, Animal Services will send a letter to the dog owner, including tips on how to stop the barking problem. If the barking continues, an Animal Services Officer will be sent to the dog owner's home to make suggestions on solving the barking.

Dogs Running Loose

All dogs off the owner's property are required by City Ordinance to be on a leash and under control by a competent person. Violations of the leash law may be reported to the City of Fremont Animal Services Division at 510-790-6630.

Wild Animals

Wild animals can be a nuisance and at times destructive. The best solution is to remove food, water and nesting sites and they will move on. For a copy of the informative brochure, "Living with Nuisance Wildlife," call 510-790-6630.

Cat Nuisances

Domestic cats are not required to be confined or on a leash when off the owner's property. Cats can be a nuisance by defecating in flower and vegetable gardens and in backyard sand boxes. Humane box traps are available for a small fee at the Tri-City Animal Shelter. For additional information please call 510-790-6640.
