If you have lost a pet, we recommended you visit the animal shelter in person. Stray animals without identification are held for three shelter business days and animals with a license are held a minimum of seven shelter business days.
To reclaim your pet you must have personal identification, your pet's records (license, rabies receipt), a photograph of you pet, and be at least 18 years old. Fees for service will be charged to claim your pet. |

The following suggestions may help you find your lost pet:
- Fill out the Animal Services On-Line Lost Pet Report.
- Look for your pet immediately. Ask the mail carrier, meter reader, paper carrier, and children in your neighborhood if they have seen your pet.
- Visit the animal shelter at least every other day.
- At the shelter, fill out a lost report and check the found reports. Ask about the animals taken to the veterinarian. Ask to see the list of dead animals that have been picked up and ask about animals being held in the quarantine area.
- Advertise in the local papers. Offer a reward but do not specify a price.
- Post lost pet notices on bulletin boards in libraries, stores, laundromats, and other community announcement areas.
- AND, keep checking all the local shelters. Many people keep lost pets for weeks before turning them in.
If you have found a stray animal, you may bring it to the Tri-City Animal Shelter only during shelter hours or call 790-6630 and request it be picked up by Animal Services. If you have found a stray but wish to hold onto the animal, Fremont City Ordinance requires that the finder notify the animal shelter within eight hours.
City Ordinance requires dogs and cats to be licensed. For more information please call the Tri-City Animal Shelter Pet Licensing at 790-6644. |
