When Do I Need to License My Pet?

City Ordinance requires cats and dogs to be licensed.   Pet owners need to get a license within 30 days of:
  • Acquiring a cat or dog that is over four months old 
  • A cat or dog turning four months old
  • Moving to Fremont with a cat or dog
  • The expiration of a pet license
There is a $10 penalty charged if cats and dogs are not licensed within these timeframes.

How do I get a pet license?

 
Owners can get a pet license at the Tri-City Animal Shelter at 1950 Stevenson Boulevard on Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. - Noon and 1:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. Pet Licensing is closed on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Holidays. You will need to bring a current rabies certificate, but you do not need to bring your pet.

Altered pets
$12- (1 year)
$17- (2 years)
$21- (3 years)

 
Unaltered pets
$25 - (1 year)
$35 - (2 years)
$42 - (3 years)
 
Senior Citizens can receive a 10% discount with proof of age 60 and over.
