The mission of Fremont's Community Preservation Section is to enhance safety, quality of life, and civic pride in partnership with the Fremont community. This mission is achieved by responding to citizen complaints and by proactively seeking out violations of the Fremont Municipal Code, and then working to solve those problems in a swift and fair manner. In other jurisdictions, this operation is more commonly know as "Code Enforcement." Some of the types of problems that we can address are: illegal housing, structures built without permits, dangerous swimming pools, businesses operating in inappropriate locations or without permits, illegal or unpermitted land uses, automobile repair in inappropriate locations, illegal signage, fence height and locations, and more. |

The Community Preservation Section is staffed by Code Enforcement Officers who are committed to upholding and enforcing community standards. These public officers work to resolve issues that are in conflict with the Fremont Municipal Code. Their goal is for those conflicts to be resolved through voluntary compliance. In the absence of voluntary compliance, the officers have a range of other options to assist with the remedy, including issuing citations or using the City's authority to resolve or abate the problem.
You can help enhance the quality of life in Fremont by reporting public nuisances such as unsafe buildings, substandard dwellings, excessive or improper sign displays, or residential auto repairs.
Please visit our Report a Hazard or Nuisance page to submit a service request. You are free to provide your contact information or remain confidential.
If you would rather report the issue by other means, please contact our Community Preservation/Code Enforcement Office Monday through Friday (8am - 5pm) at 510-494-4430.
The exact address where the suspected violation is occurring is extremely important. In addition, reporting more information about the complaint helps to provide a clearer picture of the nature of the violation.
For a detailed list of the types of violations that we can address, go to our "Report A Hazard" page.
