Landmark Trees

Historical and Landmark Trees

The City of Fremont places great value in promoting and protecting its Historical or Landmark trees.

In the early 70's a group called City Beautiful Committee gathered information and documented various tree species and their locations which were published by the City of Fremont in 1973. The booklet is titled Landmark Trees City of Fremont, and is available in its original printing.

The City Council considers trees with trunk diameters over four and one-half feet for landmark status.  Fremont has 60 Landmark Trees (some are groups of trees) and 9 trees that are Historic Resources in the City's General Plan.  Anyone interested in obtaining a copy of the original printing of the Landmark Trees booklet should call 510-713-5700 and request a copy.

More current Landmark Tree information can be found at the Museum of Local History web site.

Visit our Current Park Projects page for more information on trees and other park related projects.
