Teen Volunteer Program 2008

The City of Fremont Teen Recreation Leadership Academy (TRL Academy) is an exciting low-cost training program that will show you how to become the best leader you can be if you are a:

• School ASB officer
• Girl Scout
• Boy Scout 
• 4-H Teen Leader
• Church youth group member
• Community leader
• Day care employee
• Just interested in learning

The TRL Academy gives you the opportunity to learn about being a leader on-the-job. Activities include training workshops and volunteering at a camp program. For more information call Rena at 510-494-4344 or email rdein@ci.fremont.ca.us.

There will be workshops offered every two weeks on different subjects like: 

• Team building activities.
• Getting the job you want! / Finding your passion in life.
• Interview & job skills.
• Icebreakers & getting to know you games, and more!

Volunteering

The TRL Academy  also incorporates an opportunity to volunteer within your community as an important member of several programs.  Click on a program below to get a program description. Volunteers will assist staff with providing activities for participants that are described.

Playcamp Program Sunnyside/Lakeside Camps Young Wizards / Pirates Camps Early America's Girls Camps

Sunnyside / Lakeside          Day Camps* Fremont Community Center	14 -17	Minimum of two weeks straight fulltime (10 days) 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. or 3  p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Monday - Friday
Young Wizards or Young Pirates Camps* Irvington Community Center or Los Cerritos Community Center, 3377 Alder Avenue	14 - 17	Minimum of two weeks straight fulltime (10 days) 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday
Early America's Girls  Camp or Babysitters Training Camp* Irvington Community Center	14 - 17	Minimum of two weeks straight fulltime (10 days) 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday

*Attending the workshops is required for program volunteers. You are not required to volunteer in order to attend the TRL Academy workshops.

Why should I volunteer?

When you volunteer, you can earn community service / service learning hours for school and further develop your community pride for Fremont. You will also learn skills for your future career at the same time you meet and make new friends. We will help you keep track of your hours, award you a certificate of completion and have a celebration party for a job well done at the end of the summer.
