Giving Hope Holiday Program

Why Giving Hope?

The goal of the City of Fremont Human Services Department’s Giving Hope appeal is to support the people we serve by bringing joy to them during the holiday season.

Sponsors can shop for items from a personalized wish list for a family in need, an individual in unstable housing, or a senior on a fixed income, including those with pets who enrich their lives.  All of whom need a little extra support to make the holidays special. Based on the requests of the family, individual, or senior, wish lists can include clothing, toys, personal need items, groceries, gift cards, travel vouchers, and more. We ask sponsors to spend a minimum of $100 per person on the lists.

Are you ready to shop?

To sponsor a wish list for a family or individual email Jane.

To sponsor a wish list for a senior email Monica.

Deadline to request a list is Wednesday, December 11 at 5 p.m.
Gifts need to be received in the Human Services Offices by Friday, December 13 at 5 p.m.

Don't know what to buy?

Gift cards are an important part of Giving Hope. Used to augment gifts, they allow recipients to purchase desired or needed themselves. Gift cards from stores like Target and Wal-Mart are popular as are cards from grocery stores in the area. Denominations of $25, $50 and $100 are best. To ensure the gift cards you give will be included in holiday gifts, please drop them off to the Human Services Department by noon on Monday, December 16.

Not a shopper but still want to help?

You can click here to make a financial contribution through our secure website or you can mail a check made payable to the City of Fremont to Giving Hope, Human Services Department, City of Fremont, 3300 Capitol Ave, Bldg B, Fremont, CA 94538.

Financial contributions will be used to buy gifts for wish lists that don’t have sponsors. After the holidays, money we haven’t spent on gifts is applied to the Human Service Department’s urgent needs funds. These flexible funds allow us to help with the various critical needs that our clients may be facing, which may not be covered under governmental program guidelines.

For information on giving through your Donor Advised Fund or making a charitable contribution directly from your IRA, email our Development Officer, Paula Manczuk-Hannay.
