Men at Work

Dale Hardware sign, 3700 Thornton Ave.

Two life-like hard-hatted workmen struggle with difficult projects at the entrance to the Dale Hardware store, one hanging onto the Dale sign as his ladder slips away, the other stooping under a heavy or tipping load. The load carried by the stooping figure can be changed to reflect the seasons, which adds even more interest to this eye-catching multi-media installation, whose title is "Men at Work".

These sculptures are from the studio of Mario Chiodo, who also created the renowned large scale sculpture 'Remember Them: Champions for Humanity' located in Oakland. Fremont can boast 3 art pieces from the Chiodo studio, including the Harmony of Shape Fountain and the Niles Train Sculpture.

This artwork is privately owned.
