Central Park Picnic Area Renovations

Project Description
The Central Park Picnic Area Renovations Project consisted of the following three sites within Central Park: Always Dream Picnic Area, Picnic Area “C”, and Triangle Picnic Area.

The Central Park Always Dream Picnic Area project created a reservable picnic area for up to 100 people, located adjacent to the Always Dream Play Park. The project included an accessible path from the parking lot and Play Park, to the fully accessible picnic area, which will have access to the adjacent bathroom structure. Additions to the picnic area included colorful shade structures, colored spheres to match Always Dream Play Park, picnic tables, bbq stations, trash receptacles and planting.

The Central Park Picnic Area “C” project expanded the existing site to accommodate a maximum of 200 people and improved the site to become fully accessible for the mobility impaired.  Other improvements included protecting the existing trees within the picnic area, and utilization of permeable pavers and decomposed granite paving to promote storm water infiltration into the soil.

The Central Park Triangle Picnic Area replaced a former under-utilized play area with a new, reservable, multiple group picnic area. The former play area was removed for use when the Always Dream Play Park was installed nearby. Additions to the picnic area included picnic tables, ADA picnic tables, trash receptacles, chess table, planting, and bbq stations. This site is located adjacent to Soccer Fields 9 & 10.
