Revenue Division Office Hours Update

The City continues to enhance access to online services to make it easier and more convenient for the public. As the use of online services increases, the need for in-person business tax services continues to decrease. As a result, the City is implementing a pilot plan for reopening the Revenue Division, located within the Development Services Center. The schedule is outlined below and is subject to change. Any updates will be available on this webpage.

The Development Services Center, located at 39550 Liberty Street, plans to reopen on Wednesday, July 7 with a new operating schedule. On Mondays and Wednesdays, the Center will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (closed from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.). On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, the Center will be closed while staff focuses on processing online transactions. City staff from the Revenue Division will be available by phone or email to provide assistance.

Business Tax Account Renewal Required

Annual renewal or closure of a City of Fremont business tax account is required prior to the business tax certificate expiration date.  A Business Tax Return Renewal Form is mailed from the City of Fremont to registered businesses in advance of the business tax certificate expiration date.  The Return Renewal Form needs to be completed and returned to the City of Fremont Revenue Division, with the applicable business tax payment.  If you have received a Business Tax Return Renewal Form, either by mail or by email, you may return the completed form by mail or renew your business tax account online.

Renewal Filing Deadlines

You may mail your Return Renewal Form and business tax payment to the Revenue Division office.  Mailed forms and payments must be received by our office no later than 5:00 p.m. on the last day of the month following your business tax certificate expiration date.  If the last day of the month is a weekend or holiday, the postmark deadline is the preceding business day.  You may also drop your completed Business Tax Return Renewal Form and payment off at our office, no later than 4 p.m. at our cashier counter (cashier counter closes at noon on Fridays), or 5 p.m. in our payment drop box.  Our payment drop box is located outside the main entrance of the Revenue Division office at 39550 Liberty Street, Fremont, CA.

Depending upon your business tax certificate expiration date, Return Renewal Forms and payments must be received in our office by the deadline, as listed below.
