Starting November 2018, East Bay Community Energy (EBCE) will be the new electricity provider for Fremont. Through this local Community Choice Energy (CCE) program, Fremont residents will receive cleaner electricity at an affordable rate.
Residents will be automatically enrolled in East Bay Community Energy and continue to receive one bill from PG&E. Beginning with the December 2018 bill, residents will see electric delivery charges from PG&E and electric generation charges from EBCE. The default residential rate for Fremont customers is Bright Choice, which offers 38 percent renewable and 85 percent carbon-free power for a slightly lower rate than PG&E.
Residents also have the opportunity to opt up to the Brilliant 100 rate, offering 40 percent renewable and 100 percent carbon-free energy at par with PG&E, or Renewable 100, offering 100 percent renewable and carbon-free at a slight premium. Customers can Opt-Up online.
For solar customers, enrollment in EBCE will begin in 2019 and will be based on their “True Up” date as noted in their statement.
PG&E will continue to deliver the power, send bills, and handle customer service issues. Customers can opt out of EBCE at any time. There is no fee to opt out before June 2019.
