A Spare the Air Alert is in effect through Monday, September 14, for the San Francisco Bay Area. Some parts of Alameda County, including Fremont, have Unhealthy or Very Unhealthy air.
Based on the air quality information that has been released for the upcoming weekend, the City of Fremont is moving forward with the following:
- Tonight’s Drive-In Cinema scheduled for Central Park is cancelled and will be rescheduled to a future date. All ticket holders have received an email notification and a refund will be processed.
- Permitted Sports Field Rentals throughout the city are cancelled though the weekend. All renters have been notified and field monitors will be staffed over the weekend to assist in enforcement.
- Central Park Tennis Center will be closed through the weekend. Residents with reservations have been notified and a notice has been posted at the facility.
When air quality is Very Unhealthy, everyone, especially children, older adults and those w/ breathing or heart issues, should stay indoors with windows and doors closed.
The best way to protect from COVID-19 and poor air quality is to stay indoors. Cloth and surgical masks do not protect from smoke, but do protect from COVID-19. N95 masks should only be used by those who do not have the option to stay indoors.
The current Spare the Air Alert in place may be extended.
