Statement on Tragic Passing of Fremont Human Relations Commissioner and Her Son

Statement on City letterhead, with text and logo

The City of Fremont is deeply saddened by the tragic fire that claimed the lives of two Fremont community members, Feda Almaliti and her son Muhammed Almaliti, early Saturday morning.  Feda was an active member of the Fremont Human Relations Commission and an advocate for vulnerable people throughout the community. She was a frequent writer on the topic of autism and an exuberant advocate on behalf of the rights of autistic children.

Fremont Mayor Lily Mei stated, “On behalf of the Fremont community, I’d like to extend my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Feda Almaliti and her beloved wonderful son, Mu.  Feda was my dear longtime friend, commissioner, and a phenomenal autism champion.  I am so thankful for Feda’s dedication and contributions to our Fremont community.  We will all miss their laughter, smile and hugs.”
