As the City of Fremont Community Services Director, Kim Beranek oversees Recreation Services, Park Planning & Design, Urban Forestry, and numerous City boards and commissions. Kim has worked for the City of Fremont since 2008, serving as the Deputy Director of Community Services since 2014 prior to appointment to the Director position in 2024. Kim has over 30 years of professional experience in the field of recreation services, municipal parks, waterparks, and community non-profit partnerships. 

Kim grew up in the Bay Area, holds a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, and is a National Recreation & Parks Association Certified Park & Recreation Executive (CPRE). Before joining Fremont, Kim worked for the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians serving as member of the Pearl River Resort Executive Team, leading the start-up, construction, and operations of a $45 million water theme park, beach and full-service restaurant. Kim has a passion for improving the quality of life for the community she serves and continually strives to make Fremont the best place to live, work, and PLAY!
