School Pods is an in-person City of Fremont Recreationprogram where parents/guardians can drop off their child and receive assistanceon their schoolwork from recreation staff. Students will be placed in “pods” bygrade level (see below) where they’ll connect their devices to Wi-Fi and loginfor their online classes. When all schoolwork is completed, recreation staffwill provide enrichment activities.
The program is for 3rd to 8th graders only. Ages 8-14.
Age Well Center (map) in Central Park/Lake Elizabeth. Additional locations may be added if there’s a need.
Monday to Friday, 8am to 5:30pm. Program is closed on holidays.
Pods are groups of 12 kids or less. Pods will remain stable(same groupings) throughout the program and each pod will have their individualrooms.
No. This in-person program is available for parents to dropoff their child and receive support with schoolwork during hours that theywould normally be at school. During the afterschool hours, program offersindoor/outdoor activities.
Program staff are City of Fremont recreation staff members,not teachers. Please note that staff members are not replacing the role ofteachers but will help students complete their homework and school assignments.Staff will also lead recreation enrichment activities during non-school hours.Most recreation staff are high school and college students. A full-timesupervisor will be assigned to each facility to oversee all pods. 12:1 with astaff mix of part-time and full-time staff.
In addition to assisting your child with schoolwork, recreation staff will lead them through a variety of activities such as: STEM projects, arts/crafts, dance, field games, theater, public speaking. Student input will also be taken into consideration to fit their programming interests.
The program fee includes a daily snack and lunch for eachchild. Examples: Chicken sandwich, chicken or veggie nuggets, corn dog, mac& cheese, pasta, hamburger, hot dog, pizza, quesadilla, with bag ofchips/crackers and side of fruit. They’ll also have a choice of a juice box orbottled water.
Yes. Please note, no food sharing will be allowed. A dailyreminder will be given to participants.
Laptop or tablet (or other devices your child uses for distance learning courses) with charger. Onsite Wi-Fi will be available.
Textbooks (or books for leisure)

Yes, wearing a facemask is a requirement of the program.Exceptions: while eating or drinking liquids. Please send your child with afacemask daily.
Due to COVID-19, additional safety measures will be ineffect during check-in/out process such as temperature checks and a verbalhealth screening questionnaire. Parents, child, and staff will all be requiredto wear masks. When you arrive to the site, your child’s temperature will betaken and given a verbal health screening questionnaire.

Refunds are allowed if requested up to three (3) businessdays prior to the start of the program. A $10 withdrawal fee will be deductedfrom your refund.
