Animals in Fremont- What to Expect

Deceased animals are considered a non-emergency, low-priority call. Animal Services prioritizes responses based on urgency and public safety. Incidents involving animal bites, aggressive animals, welfare concerns, neglect or abuse, animals in distress, and active rescues are treated as higher priority and are responded to first.

As a result, if officers are addressing higher priority calls, it may take up to 72 hours for a deceased animal to be collected.

Additionally, the City of Fremont will not perform deceased animal pick-ups in locations that pose a safety risk to staff.

If available, you may attach a photo to your request. If it is safe to do so, a picture that clearly shows the location is extremely helpful and can assist staff in responding more efficiently.

What you can do

If it is a small animal, please consider wearing gloves, picking up and placing the deceased animal in a plastic bag, and discarding it in your black trash bin or bringing it to the shelter for disposal.

To report a deceased animal in Fremont, fill out the form or call 510-790-6635.
