The following information relates to inspections for building permits, fire construction permits, and hazardous materials permits. 

All permits require an inspection. This includes building permits, residential express permits, fire construction permits, and solar permits. Inspections are required to finalize a permit and to assure compliance with the approved plans for the project.

Inspection Information:
Inspector Name and Time of Inspection

An email notification will be sent to the applicant and licensed contractor listed on the record for which the inspection is scheduled verifying: 1) the name of the inspector; 2) the specific inspection type to be completed; and 3) the estimate arrival time of the inspector. This email notification will be sent after 6:00 p.m. the evening before the scheduled inspection date.

If you are not one of the persons to receive the email notification and need to find information about your scheduled inspection, including the name of your assigned inspector and the time of your inspection, please do the following:

• After 6:00 p.m. on the evening before your inspection date, visit CitizenAccess and search by your record number.
• Under your record, go to "Record Info" and "Inspections" to find your inspector's name and their estimated time of arrival.
• Please note that it is not necessary to log into Citizen Access to view permit activity and inspection information.

If you visit Citizen Access and there is no estimated time of arrival posted, click on the link provided in Citizen Access for the contact information of your assigned inspector. Please send a text to their mobile device including your inspection site address and your request for the estimated time of arrival.

If you see "Temp Inspector" listed and no estimated time of arrival, please call the Building Inspection phone line at 510-494-4400 for further assistance.

If you ever need to reach your assigned inspector for their estimated time of arrival, please send a text to their mobile device listed below. Please include the inspection site address and your request for the estimated time of arrival.

If you are canceling your inspection on the date of the inspection, please send a text to your assigned inspector's mobile device including your inspection site address and your request to cancel.
