Coastal Cleanup Day Held Every Year in September
Fremont’s 2025 Coastal Cleanup Day: A Community Success
This year’s Coastal Cleanup Day in Fremont was a remarkable display of community spirit and environmental commitment! On Saturday, September 20, a total of 201 enthusiastic volunteers mobilized across seven designated sites. They covered 275 acres and made a significant impact on our local waterways. Their collective effort resulted in the removal of an impressive 2,138 pounds of debris, including 1,620 pounds of trash, 318 pounds of recyclables, and 200 pounds of compost.
A big thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers! We were especially inspired by those who amplified their impact by bringing their own reusable water bottles, gloves, and buckets. We encourage everyone to continue reducing waste in their daily lives. By working together, we can protect our natural resources and keep Fremont a beautiful place for generations to come.

Do-It-Yourself Cleanup, Any Time, Any Day
Clean up your neighborhood, parks, and local area any time. Trash from inland areas flows downstream to the coast, so cleaning up neighborhood trash prevents marine debris.
- Gather cleanup supplies from home.
- Gather grocery bags or buckets for trash.
- Use kitchen tongs as pickers.
- Use milk jugs to collect small pieces of trash.
- Download the Clean Swell app to count your trash and to have your trash counted! Report your cleanup by recording data on the Clean Swell app any time and have it counted towards statewide goals. Learn why data collection is important.
- Clean on your own time.
All cleanups that take place during September will count towards statewide goals!
Schoolyard Cleanups
Educators and students can participate in Coastal Cleanup Day without a field trip. Schoolyard cleanups can be organized to help students become environmental stewards at their own school and in their own neighborhood! Learn more.
