Frequency of Inspections depends on the type of occupancy and risk level. Some facilities are inspected:

• Annually – most commercial properties, educational facilities, Multi-family residential (three or more apartments) facilities, and other business facilities.


• Tri-Annually – Every business that falls within one of the CUPA programs will receive an inspection every three years-some might be on annual basis depending on program.

Our Inspectors are trained professionals committed to safety and service. During a routine inspection, they will identify themselves and explain the purpose for the visit:

• Complete an annual or tri-annual inspection of the facility.
• Conduct a complete a walkthrough of the facility. 
• Discuss any violations or concerns observed on-site.
• Provide a report outlining required corrections and associated timelines.

For a smooth fire safety inspection, businesses can ensure the following:

• All fire and life safety systems have completed their annual or five-year test reports and no outstanding deficiencies have been identified-
