Fremont Fire Department's Firefighter Rehabilitation Program is operated and managed by the a team of dedicated volunteers referred to as the Rehabilitation (Rehab.) Unit.

The team is dispatched via the Department's communication center and provides support services to Fremont firefighters during emergency incidents. They are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Goals and Responsibilities of the Firefighter Rehabilitation Unit

Provide vital firefighting support services to firefighters at emergency incidents such as structure fires, wildland fires, hazardous materials incidents, training exercises, and other major incidents / disasters.

Provide rehydration and nourishment (Gatorade, water, hot coffee, snacks, meals, etc.) to ensure the health and well being of the firefighters while they perform the emergency tasks.

Set up rest areas for firefighters to minimize the occurrence of heat and stress related illnesses and/or injuries.
