Smoke alarms are essential safety devices that protect lives by providing early warnings in the event of a fire. They are critical to alerting residents of fire risk and helping them to evacuate safely.  

 

 

 

 

Free Smoke Alarm Installation Options

If you need help getting smoke or carbon monoxide alarms installed in your home, there are several free programs available to Fremont residents. These services are designed to reduce risk, protect lives and property, and minimize fire-related injuries and fatalities.

Fremont Fire Department Installation

Through a partnership with Operation Save a Life, Fremont residents can receive free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms with 10-year lithium-ion batteries.

This program is supported by ABC 7, Kidde, and Home Depot and is available while supplies last.


Sound the Alarm Program/Campaign

The is a national initiative by the American Red Cross. Fremont Fire Department collaborates with Red Cross volunteers to host local installation events on a quarterly basis where residents can:

  • Get free smoke alarms installed (if you are unable to purchase a smoke alarm or physically unable to install one)
  • Create a home fire escape plan
  • Learn fire safety tips
