In 2017, the City of Fremont joined the AARP/WHO Age Friendly Network and completed an extensive community needs assessment that led to a local Action Plan called the Age-Friendly Fremont Action Plan. In the Summer of 2024, the Age-Friendly Action Plan was updated to reflect the current needs of older adults in Fremont. It also set goals for the next five years. As with the original plan, the 2025 update is a guide to monitor several areas, or domains, that are important to having an Age-Friendly City.
