About the Project
The Vallejo Mill Historical Park Pickleball and Dog Park Project addresses the community’s expressed interests with the addition of new pickleball facilities and dog park in a natural setting nestled among existing trees.
The 32,000 square foot dog park will include separated small and large dog areas with bark mulch surfacing, a four-foot height fencing enclosure, seating, drinking fountain, and park user and maintenance access gates.
The pickleball facilities will include four new pickleball courts, a four-foot tall perimeter fence, benches, waiting area, and drinking fountain. The existing park driveway and entrance will be maintained at the same location and will terminate at a new vehicle roundabout that meets emergency vehicle requirements. New parking will include ADA accessible stalls.
Additional park improvements include perimeter fencing and gates to discourage vehicular access into the natural areas of the park. Other plan improvements include ADA-compliant walkways, trash and recycling receptacles, irrigation, and park rules signage.
Project Timeline Update
Construction began on Monday, August 25, 2025, and is expected to continue until early 2026. Due to equipment ordering delays, the installation of the pit toilet and the upgraded electrical equipment is anticipated for spring and summer 2026 respectively. The projected park re-opening date is still pending so check back for more information.
